Jeter Mountain Farms: A Story of Growth and Partnership
Nestled in the scenic landscape of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Jeter Mountain Farm stands as a testament to both the beauty of agritourism and the strength of meaningful partnerships. Founded by Tyler and Jared Hunsader, the farm has grown from a humble plot of land into a thriving 400-acre operation known for its diverse range of products and engaging farm experience such as their U-Pick Orchards, Smokehouse, and their very own Cider company.
Jeter Mountain Farm, with its 75 acres dedicated to agritourism, features an impressive array of produce including apples, peaches, flowers, pumpkins, berries, and grapes. Notably, it boasts one of the largest apple orchards in Western North Carolina, attracting families from near and far for the perfect fall family experience.
The team’s vision is clear: create a space where every family member, from toddlers to adults, can enjoy the charm and bounty of mountain farm life. Tyler and Jared, along with their families do this by offering a variety of activities including: u-pick apple orchards, playgrounds, food trucks, a cider taproom, live music, and a country store.
“The main goal of our operation is to be able to invite families out to be able to have a fall farm day… we will have something that everyone from the family can enjoy” says Tyler.
The Hunsader Brothers’ and Sustainability
Tyler and Jared grew up on a 1,000-acre tomato farm in Florida, fostering a love for agriculture and agritourism. They aspired to create a sustainable farm in North Carolina, choosing apples as their primary crop. The Hunsader’s journey to their now beloved farm wasn’t without its challenges. Jared, who grew up on a sizeable tomato farm in Florida, brought his passion for agriculture and agritourism with him during his move to North Carolina. His team’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the farm’s daily practices such as using cover crops to prevent erosion and pressing tens of thousands of gallons of apple juice every year. “Sustainability is a big deal to us – this piece of property is our livelihood… so we strive to take care of it the best ways we know how” says Jared.

Jared emphasizes the personal touch and support they have received, stating, “Farm Credit has treated us like friends, not just numbers. Our Loan Officers are always available and truly value our vision.” This symbiotic relationship between Jeter Mountain Farm and AgSouth underscores the importance of strong, supportive partnerships in the agricultural sector.
