STATESBORO, Ga. (July 6, 2017): Pat Calhoun, CEO of AgSouth Farm Credit, announced that Sharmequa M. Franklin will succeed AgSouth’s current Chief Human Resources Officer Lisa Peden when Peden retires in December.
Peden has been with the association for 34 years, serving as head of human resources for first Palmetto Farm Credit and then AgSouth Farm Credit after the associations merged in 2004. The company employs approximately 250 employees and is headquartered in Statesboro, Ga. Peden will be working with Franklin over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
Franklin comes to AgSouth from MidAtlantic Farm Credit where she has worked since 2006. Her last eight years have been in human resources with a focus on Organizational Development and Talent Management. She received a Bachelor of Science in Technology Support and Training Management from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Arts in Information Technology from Webster University and, most recently, a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Walden University. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Prior to her work with MidAtlantic Farm Credit, she was employed by AgFirst Farm Credit, in Columbia, S.C., for five years.
Calhoun says, “Sharmequa brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of organizational development and talent management, and also has extensive Farm Credit experience. She will be a strong addition to the association’s staff, and we welcome her and her family to the AgSouth community.”
AgSouth Farm Credit provides loans for land, equipment and production agriculture; crop insurance; leasing; and home mortgages. The association is headquartered in Statesboro, Ga.
